To be privately owned

Domont Castle, also known as Delémont Castle, is a historic structure located in the picturesque Jura region of Switzerland. Originally built as a representative residence, it reflects the eventful history of its builders and owners.

History+

The construction of Domont Castle took place in 1561 under the patronage of Marx de Vorburg. His descendant, Jean-Conrad, harbored plans for the structural reinforcement of the estate. However, these intentions met with resistance from the city of Delsberg, which acquired the castle in 1600 for 3000 Basel pounds and 110 gold thalers. From then on, it served as a country house for the Delsberg magistrate. During French rule, the castle's fortifications were dismantled. Over time, the building transformed into a tenant farm and later into a restaurant. In 1952, the castle's knight's hall was redesigned.
