Domont Castle (Delémont)
Domont Castle, also known as Delémont Castle, is a historic structure in the Jura region of Switzerland.
History+
The construction of Domont Castle took place in 1561 under the patronage of Marx de Vorburg. His descendant, Jean-Conrad, harbored plans for the structural reinforcement of the estate. However, these intentions met with resistance from the city of Delsberg, which acquired the castle in 1600 for 3000 Basel pounds and 110 gold thalers. From then on, it served as a country house for the Delsberg magistrate. During French rule, the castle's fortifications were dismantled. The building transformed into a tenant farm and later into a restaurant. In 1952, the castle's knight's hall was redesigned.
