Draskovich Castle

Draskovich Castle, still occasionally referred to as a "villa" by the populace today, presents itself representatively in Neoclassical forms. Construction of the castle began under Count Ludwig Ernst Batthyány (1696 to 1765), who held the dignity of Palatine of the Kingdom of Hungary (the Crown Guardian dignity) from 1751 to 1764.

Prince Ludwig Ernst Batthyány (1753 to 1806) expanded the building in the last decade of the 18th century and completed its construction in 1804. The castle served as a summer residence for the Princes Batthyány, who had moved their residence to Körmend after abandoning the mighty Güssing Castle. The Neoclassical residential castle, situated on the slope of the castle hill in a park ("Hofgarten"), is a stately, two-story building with a three-axis central risalit emphasized by a half-column articulation. The side wings have five window axes. It is entered from the valley side beneath a balcony, while on the side facing the castle, an entrance leads directly into the central salon on the first floor (middle floor). The central salon is furnished with Empire furniture. Here and in the other rooms of the first floor (guest rooms, salons, dining room) are once again the beautiful and valuable objects – chandeliers, candelabras, porcelain, etc. – that survived the end of the war in the west well. The porcelain collection is particularly noteworthy.

The castle is privately owned. The estate administration is located in the left wing. The rooms are not publicly accessible.
