Dürrwangen Castle, a former moated castle, is the oldest structure in the municipality of Dürrwangen. Its keep dates back to the early Middle Ages. Although the moat no longer exists today, the well-preserved defensive wall and a historic bridge bear witness to its former significance.

History+

The keep of Dürrwangen Castle presumably dates from the 9th century. After several fires, the three-story main building received its current Baroque appearance between 1720 and 1724, characterized by stucco decorations and pilasters. A renovation between 1999 and 2002 led to the restoration of the original rooms with their parquet floors and stucco ceilings, as well as the addition of a new wing.
