A former defensive complex in Linz-Ebelsberg, Upper Austria, Ebelsberg Castle is a structure whose history dates back to 1154. It was the scene of military conflicts, including the Battle of Ebelsberg during the Napoleonic Wars.

The exact origins of the castle are not dated, but it was first mentioned in a document in 1154 when Bishop Konrad of Passau referred to the area as “Ebelesberc.” The Passau bishops owned the castle for about 600 years, using it as a residence and securing the location. Between 1242 and 1244, the complex was devastated during battles but was restored in 1248. After a fire during the Battle of 1809, the castle lay in ruins for some time until Baron Karl Theodor von Kast acquired it in 1825. His family held the property until 1974.
