Ebersdorf Castle

Uninhabited

The complex was built from 1690 to 1693 as a baroque residential palace in place of an old moated castle. It is an irregular complex of four wings surrounding an inner courtyard. The construction was carried out relatively simply, but achieves a large spatial extent in relation to the size of the governed county. The west wing underwent a classical renovation between 1788 and 1792, carried out by Christian Friedrich Schuricht. He gave the wing a representative facade facing the palace park, structured by columns. After being used as a nursing home until 2000, the palace is now empty.

The palace park was laid out in 1710. Initially a baroque garden, it was transformed into an English landscape garden in the 19th century, as it still exists today with numerous old trees.
