Edelbeuren Castle
In the Edelbeuren district of the municipality of Erolzheim in the Biberach district of Baden-Württemberg is Edelbeuren Castle. Originally built as a noble residence, it now presents itself as a stately property.
History+
The first known mention of Edelbeuren dates back to 1340, when Werner von Erolzheim sold the property, including land and subjects, to Ochsenhausen Abbey. In 1496, the place returned to the possession of a member of the Erolzheim lordship, who had the current castle built there. Edelbeuren remained part of the Erolzheim knightly lordship until secularization. After secularization, it was annexed to the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1806, before being incorporated into the Kingdom of Württemberg in 1810.
