Edesheim Castle

Edesheim Castle was built by the Benedictine Abbey of Weissenburg even before the year 756. During the Palatinate War of Succession, the castle was completely destroyed in 1594 and had to be rebuilt; only the water systems from the 12th century could be preserved. After the castle increasingly lost its importance, it was finally demolished in 1748. It was not until the 19th century that the castle began to be rebuilt in a contemporary style. It changed owners several times and was completely renovated around the year 2000. Since then, the premises have housed a hotel.
