Northwest of Klagenfurt am Wörthersee in Carinthia, Ehrenbichl Castle is situated on an artificially created terrace on the southern slope of the Ehrenbichlerberg.

History+

The exact construction period of Ehrenbichl Castle is not clearly documented. It is believed that the Khevenhüller family erected a rectangular, single-story building in the late 16th century. A second floor was presumably added in the 17th century. Around 1688, the castle was owned by Countess Benigna Rosina Khevenhüller. In 1740, ownership transferred to Johann Georg Pirker von Pirkenau. After the death of Ignatz von Pirkenau in 1806, the estate passed to Franz Xaver von Platzer.
