In the West Flanders region of Belgium, Elverdinge Castle is an estate that was rebuilt after wartime destruction.
History+
The origins of the estate in Elverdinge date back to the 12th century, when a first castle was built there, belonging to the Counts of Flanders. In 1629, ownership passed to Adrian Vander Borcht, who had the existing structure renovated. A change occurred in 1870 when Margrave Victor d’Ennetière acquired the estate and had the current castle built. The castle was destroyed by fire during the First World War but was rebuilt in 1925.
