Emmerichshofen Castle
Emmerichshofen Castle is located north of Kahl am Main on the road to Alzenau, not far from the B 8. Built in 1766 by Count Bentzel-Sternau in the late Baroque style, the castle was named after the Archbishop of Mainz, Emmerich Joseph von Breidbach-Bürresheim.
The castle is situated in a lake landscape surrounded by forest. From 1968 onwards, a holiday home settlement of approx. 30 ha with Scandinavian-style weekend houses was built on Weihertannensee, Lindensee and Schlosssee. All houses are leased for the long term. Popular activities include swimming, fishing, inflatable boat paddling, sailing and tennis.
A bay of the Kahler Campingsee also extends to the holiday home settlement. Pine and beech forests as well as reed vegetation are preserved here in their natural state, in contrast to the sandy shore intended for bathing.
A Christmas market takes place in the castle courtyard every year.
