In the village of Emmersdorf in the Wölfnitz district of Klagenfurt, Emmersdorf Castle stands as an elongated three-story building. Its architecture, characterized by several profound alterations, could date back to the Middle Ages.

History+

The earliest mention, which points to a predecessor building, dates back to 1136 with the name Harold de Zemramsdorf. After a long hiatus, the Emmersdorf estate reappeared in documents between 1569 and 1613 as property of the Kulmër von Rosenbichl. Thereafter, ownership changed frequently. In 1893, the physician and politician Adolf Fischhof died in this castle. From 1899 to 1902, the estate belonged to the Wiener Allgemeine Versorgungsanstalt.
