Erkersreuth Castle, erected in the 18th century in Wunsiedel, Bavaria, is now privately owned and the birthplace of a porcelain manufacturer.

History+

The new Erkersreuth Castle was built in 1748 by the von Lindenfels family. In 1800, Adam Carl von Lindenfels sold the estate to the Prussian nobleman Theodor von Kretschmann. He, in turn, sold the property within a decade to bourgeois owners and his subjects. From 1811, the castle was in the hands of private individuals, including the manufacturers Riedel from Klingenthal (until 1872) and Franz Wilfer from Haslau (from 1872 to 1899). A chapter began in 1879 when Franz Wilfer leased a part of the castle to the brothers Max and Philipp Rosenthal.
