Erla Castle
Erla Castle is located at an altitude of 291 m above sea level in the center of the Erla district of the municipality of St. Pantaleon-Erla in Lower Austria. It consists of the buildings of the former Benedictine convent of Erla.
The Benedictine convent of Erla was founded around the year 1130 by Otto von Machland. In 1583 it was dissolved by Pope Gregory XIII. Subsequently, the convent buildings and the associated estate were assigned by Emperor Rudolf II to the Queen's Convent in Vienna. The latter was also dissolved in 1782, whereby the estate in Erla was then administered by the State Property Administration for the Religious Fund. In 1832, Baron Heinrich von Pereira-Arnstein acquired the castle.
Further owners were Baroness Hard in 1880, Carl Graf Coudenhove in 1895 and Hermann Goldschmidt in 1906.
