History+
The origins of Schloss Eulenbroich date back to the 13th century, when a first castle complex existed on this site. In 1401 the Staël von Holstein family appeared as owners and resided in the moated castle until 1762. They were responsible for the construction of the second castle complex, which included a manor house, stables, servants' quarters, an outer bailey, and moats. In 1762, Johann Werner Freiherr von Francken acquired the property and transformed the medieval castle into a baroque manor. In the mid-19th century, in 1851, the Cologne manufacturer Robert Rohr took over the castle, restored it, and used it as his official residence after becoming mayor of Rösrath. He remained in office until 1878.
