In the village of Eurasburg in the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, Bavaria, stands Eurasburg Castle. The structure is an example of the Late Renaissance, having been used from ducal ownership to a modern residential complex.

History+

The origins of the estate date back to the 9th century, when a castle was built above the present-day palace. This served as the ancestral seat of the Knights of Iring, founders of Beuerberg Monastery, until 1322, and subsequently passed to the Nobles of Thor. In 1609, Duke Wilhelm V of Bavaria acquired the castle and the associated Hofmark. His son, Duke Albrecht VI of Bavaria, known as the Leuchtenberger, had the old castle demolished and a new hunting lodge in the Late Renaissance style built between 1626 and 1630.
