Fachsenfeld Castle

Fachsenfeld Castle is a castle built in the 16th century in the Fachsenfeld district of Aalen in the Ostalbkreis.

Since the beginning of the 15th century, the Barons of Woellwarth-Laubach are documented as owners of Fachsenfeld and the village of Waiblingen, which today belongs to Fachsenfeld. Georg Siegmund von Woellwarth had a larger building, a farmhouse, built in Fachsenfeld in 1540, which his son Hans Siegmund von Woellwarth had expanded into a castle. During the Thirty Years' War, Kaspar von Woellwarth lost the castle in 1634 to the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order, Johann Kaspar von Stadion, but he regained it four years later. On Christmas 1699, the castle burned down.
