Falkenlust Palace in Brühl, North Rhine-Westphalia, is a hunting lodge considered one of Germany's most significant Rococo structures. It is connected by an avenue to the larger Augustusburg Palace and, together with it and the surrounding park, forms a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

History+

Falkenlust Hunting Lodge was built between 1729 and 1740 according to designs by François de Cuvilliés, taking the Amalienburg as its model. It was specifically designed for falconry, which was popular with the patron, Elector Clemens August I of Bavaria. The interior decoration of the palace, also by de Cuvilliés, gave the rooms an intimate and private character, in contrast to the representative ambitions of Augustusburg Palace.
