In Thuringia, Fasanerie Castle, a hunting lodge in the Neoclassical style, rises amidst a park. It was built in the late 18th century.

History+

The construction of Fasanerie Castle took place around the year 1790. Duke Georg I of Saxe-Meiningen was responsible for its creation, conceiving the estate as a hunting lodge. The building is a two-story structure, dominated by a three-story central section. Until autumn 2010, the Fasanerie served as a restaurant and information center for the Rhön Biosphere Reserve, before being used again as a restaurant after a period of vacancy.
