Fasanerie Castle near Wiesbaden is a baroque hunting lodge that once served as a princely hunting residence and is now used as a restaurant and event venue.

History+

Prince Karl of Nassau-Usingen had the hunting lodge built between 1744 and 1749. The plans for the building were drawn up by court architect Friedrich Joachim Stengel. After the prince's death in 1775, his successor Karl Wilhelm relocated his hunting grounds, and the small castle was subsequently used as the head forester's residence. In 1910, the grounds became the property of the city of Wiesbaden. In 2004, the Fasanerie Support Association took over the listed castle on a 65-year hereditary lease.
