Fechenbach Castle

Fechenbach Castle in Dieburg is a town castle. Today, it houses a museum and is a cultural monument in Hesse.

The origins of the castle date back to the seat of the Ulner von Dieburg knightly family. A Renaissance building by Hartmann von Ulner, of which only cellar vaults remain, was replaced in 1717 by Pleikard von Ulner. He had a three-winged late Baroque castle erected. A feature of this building is the alliance coat of arms of the Ulners and the von Haxthausen family above the main entrance, dated 1717. After the Ulner male line died out in 1771, the property passed to the von Dalberg family. In 1841, Baron Friedrich Karl Joseph von Fechenbach acquired the castle. Between 1860 and 1861, it was expanded in the late Classicist style by district architect Krauß.
