Fellenberg Castle

Originally built as a bark mill, the building underwent renovation after 1858 by the Swiss manufacturer Wilhelm Tell von Fellenberg, who had it converted into a castle-like residence. Following the death of the childless Fellenberg couple, the property passed into the possession of the von Boch family. Between 1912 and 1919, it was leased to the district and served as the residence for the respective district administrator. In 1934, the district of Merzig acquired the building, which subsequently fulfilled various functions, including as a nursing home and as a hospital and maternity ward.
