The castle's origins date back considerably, with the Princes of Zrinski among its early owners. In the 16th and 17th centuries, the estate was surrounded by an impressive park featuring a garden and a chapel. Over time, the castle underwent several renovations and reconstructions. A significant redesign occurred around 1870, when Count Juraj Feštetić had it rebuilt in the Neo-Gothic style. The Feštetić family owned the castle from 1791 to 1923.
