Filseck Castle

The origins of Filseck Castle date back to the Staufer era, when a castle was built around 1230, presumably by Count Egino von Aichelberg. In 1268, a knight named Ernst von Filseck was mentioned, likely a vassal of the Aichelbergs. The Aichelberg family sold the castle in 1318 to Eberhard I of Württemberg, who passed it on to the Reuß von Reußenstein family around 1350. They owned the property for about 200 years before it was sold in 1568 to Balthasar Moser, the mayor of Göppingen. Just five years later, Dietrich von Gemmingen acquired the castle, which he sold in 1596 to Burkhardt von Berlichingen.
