Fischau Castle, a historic building in Bad Fischau-Brunn, Lower Austria, now serves as a venue for cultural events. Originally built as a fortified house, it acquired its current form through various renovations.

History+

A fortified house, the predecessor of the current castle, already existed in the mid-12th century. In the 12th century, the complex was owned by the Starhemberg family, followed by the Teuffenbach family in the 13th and 14th centuries. In 1561, Emperor Ferdinand I mortgaged the castle to the Counts of Heussenstein, who purchased it in 1577. The Heussenstein family remained owners until 1817.
