Fischbach Castle, a noble residence in Bavaria, is located in the Fischbach district of the municipality of Ebern in the Haßberge district. It has been owned and inhabited by the von Rotenhan family since the 13th century.

History+

The origins of Fischbach Castle date back to the 13th century when it came into the possession of the Barons of Rotenhan. In 1323, the Fischbach estate was damaged during conflicts between Würzburg troops and the von Rotenhan family. After the destruction of their ancestral castle Rotenhan, Fischbach temporarily served as a refuge for the Rotenhan until Eyrichshof Castle was completed in 1330. A reconstruction in Fischbach began in 1332. During the Peasants' War in 1525, the property was again plundered and devastated, leading to a new construction in 1530, which forms the core of the present castle.
