Flehingen Castle

A predecessor building was mentioned at this location in 1353. This was sold in 1366, along with the village of Flehingen, to the noblemen of Strahlenberg. Elector Ruprecht I of the Palatinate acquired Flehingen and Sickingen in 1368. In 1396, the lordship returned as a fief to the Lords of Flehingen. The current castle was built around 1565 under Ludwig Wolf von Flehingen and his wife Anna, née Göler von Ravensburg. Parts of the walls of the Niederburg, which had been destroyed in 1504 during the War of the Succession of Landshut, were reused. After 1636, the property passed to the Counts Wolff-Metternich zur Gracht.
