Freudental Castle

On a hill on the Bodanrück peninsula of Lake Constance, Freudental Castle, a Baroque structure, is prominently situated. Located between Lake Überlingen and Lake Gnadensee, it overlooks the village of Freudental, now a district of Allensbach.

History+

The construction of Freudental Castle took place between 1698 and 1700 under the direction of master builder Michael Wiedenmann. The patron was Baron Franz Dominik von Praßberg, who acquired the property through the inheritance of his wife Maria Clara von Hallweil. In the 19th century, the castle was largely uninhabited but was renovated in 1865.
