An estate Freyenthurn is first mentioned in 996. From 1850 to 1901, the castle served as a malting house for the Schwechat brewery. In 2001, the municipality of Schwechat bought the castle, which it sold to the housing association WET in 2005. In 2009, the castle was reopened as a conference and event venue.
