Fronburg Castle, also known as Frohnburg, is a Salzburg country estate located in Salzburg-Morzg, Austria. Today, it is an integral part of the Mozarteum University, blending historical architecture with academic use.

History+

Around 1620, Fronburg was built as a smaller complex, comprising a small castle, a pleasure garden, and a dairy farm. Initially owned by Baron Kuenburg, it later passed to Baron Froberg. Between 1670 and 1960, the castle remained continuously in the possession of the Counts of Kuenburg. Around 1670/80, the castle was extensively redesigned and expanded under Johann Josef Count von Kuenburg, shaping its current structure. In 1960, the Republic of Austria acquired the property to adapt it for the Carl Orff Institute. Later, a student dormitory was added, and it continues to serve the Mozarteum University to this day.
