History+

Around the year 1190, Prince-Bishop Wolfger von Erla of Passau had Fürsteneck Castle built. Its primary purpose was to secure the border against the Dukes of Bavaria. In 1570, the complex underwent renovation under Prince-Bishop Urban von Trennbach. Cardinal Joseph Dominikus von Lamberg commissioned the construction of the castle chapel in 1745.
