Gründung und Mittelalter

Schloss Fürsteneck was built around 1190 by the Passau Prince-Bishop Wolfger von Erla as a border fortification against the Bavarian dukes.

Frühe Neuzeit

In 1570, a renovation took place under Prince-Bishop Urban von Trennbach. In 1745, the castle chapel was built under Cardinal Joseph Dominikus von Lamberg.

Moderne Geschichte und heutige Nutzung

In 1803, the castle fell to the Bavarian state, and in 1814, it was sold to a former monk. Today, the castle houses a country inn with a restaurant and accommodation.
