Fürstlich Drehna Castle is a moated castle situated in the Niederlausitzer Landrücken Nature Park. Its origins date back to the 13th century, and it is located near a former Slavic castle complex.

History+

The beginnings of Fürstlich Drehna Castle trace back to the 13th century. In 1521, the von Minckwitz family acquired Drehna and, around 1550, had the moat and defensive towers constructed. By the end of the 17th century, specifically 1697, ownership transferred to the von Promnitz family, who had the castle renovated in the Baroque style in 1753. A renaming occurred when Count Moritz von Lynar, elevated to prince in 1807, bestowed the name 'Fürstlich Drehna' upon the locality and the castle.
