Gálosháza Castle

Gálosháza Castle (Gallenhofen) was first mentioned in a document at the beginning of the 14th century and is located just outside Nikitsch. The castle was built between 1638 and 1661 by the then pledge holder Georg Recsey on the foundations of the old Gálosháza castle. Remains of the old moats in the area still point to the former moated castle. In 1708, the building was extended under Adam Meskó. However, its current appearance dates from a generous renovation around 1840. At that time, the last remains of the former fortifications were removed and the facades were redesigned. The appearance of the castle is characterized by the elongated late Baroque garden facade. An extensive farmyard is located in front of the main building. Up to 100 people were once employed here. Today it is disused and lies in ruins. The castle is surrounded by a spacious English park. A beautiful Florian statue from around 1710 guards a Baroque park portal on the main road.
