In Baden-Württemberg, Gammertingen Castle, now used as the town hall, is a neoclassical building. It was erected in the 18th century on a historic site and still preserves artistic details from its period of origin.

History+

The current Gammertingen Castle was built in 1775. It was constructed in the neoclassical style based on designs by Pierre Michel d'Ixnard, replacing an earlier 13th-century castle. It originally served as the residence of the Barons Speth von Zwiefalten. Inside the castle, there is a ceiling fresco called “The Dawn,” attributed to Andreas Brugger. Several rooms have been preserved in their original state to this day. Eight allegorical sandstone sculptures by Johann Georg Weckenmann adorn the terrace facing the Lauchert river and the east side of the building.
