Gartrop Castle is a moated castle in Hünxe-Gartrop-Bühl, North Rhine-Westphalia. It features baroque architecture and is located in the Lippe floodplains, surrounded by an English landscape garden.

History+

The origins of the estate date back to the 13th century, when the Knights of Gardapen resided here. Around 1400, the property passed to the von Hüchtenbruck family through marriage, who expanded the estate. After damage during the Thirty Years' War, plans for a baroque new building began in 1653. Construction work, which started in 1665, was initiated by Albert Gisbert von Hüchtenbruck and completed in 1675 under his son Albert Georg.
