Gåsevadholm Castle
In the Swedish province of Halland stands Gåsevadholm Castle. The current structure, a castle, was built in the mid-18th century on the foundations of an older predecessor and is now privately owned.
History+
The first documented mention of Gåsevadholm dates to the 14th century. In 1531, the then-estate suffered destruction by fire, set by Danish troops. In 1754, Niclas Sahlgren, a businessman and owner of the East India Company, acquired the property. He had the current castle built in 1757 on the remains of the previous building. In 1818, ownership passed to the Silfverschiöld family.
