Construction and Early Years
Gattersburg Castle was built in 1792 by Christian Gattert. In 1879, Max Schroeder acquired the castle at auction. In 1887, it was converted to its present appearance. From the late 1940s until 1997, the castle served as a school, kindergarten, youth club, and apartments. In 1997, the Viehweg and Fratzscher families bought the castle and converted it into a hotel.
