Gaußig Castle

Hotel

In the municipality of Doberschau-Gaussig in the Bautzen district, Gaussig Castle is located. It is known for its Baroque architecture and the English landscape park that surrounds it.

History+

The estate's origins date back to 1245, when a manor house was first mentioned. Around 1700, Major General Rudolph von Neitschütz had the current Baroque castle built. Between 1747 and 1750, the then owner Heinrich Graf von Brühl commissioned the creation of a Baroque garden. Later, around 1800, under Henriette Gräfin von Schall-Riaucour, the park received its current landscape design, while the castle was remodeled in Palladian Classicism.
