History+

The origins of Geiersberg Castle date back to a medieval fortress that once belonged to the Lichtenstein family. Parts of the curtain wall and the keep from this early fortification are still preserved today. In the 17th century, the complex underwent a transformation when it became the official residence of the Würzburg bailiff. The current main building, complemented by a stair tower, dates from this period. The ancillary buildings were constructed in the 18th century.
