Genshagen Castle

The origins of the estate trace back to a manor owned by the Baron von Eberstein. From 1880, a new building was constructed over two years, later supplemented by renovations and extensions between 1910 and 1912, and again in 1914. Pauline Frederike von Eberstein, the Baron's daughter, received the castle as a gift. After World War II, in 1948, the family of the builder Carl Ferdinand Schulz was dispossessed and expelled by the communists. During the GDR era, the castle housed an agricultural academy. After reunification, an educational institution initially moved in, later joined by the Berlin-Brandenburg Institute (BBi) for German-French Cooperation in Europe e.V., which eventually became the sole user.
