To be privately owned
Gersdorf Castle
The castle was built in 1544 by Hans von Komerstedt. Further owners were Barthel Lauterbach in 1549, Centurius Pflug in 1603, later the Lords of Starschedel, von Haugwitz, von Einsiedel, von Carlowitz, in 1811 Count Heinrich von Einsiedel, in 1873 Friedrich Henning von Arnim and in 1886 Caroline Johanna von Carlowitz. The latter rebuilt the castle in 1890 into its present form. After this, ownership changed in 1919 to Hans Carl Adolph von Carlowitz and later to the Counts and Princes zur Lippe. In 1945, the owners were dispossessed and expelled by the communists. After the war, from 1945-1990, the castle served as a district school of the FDGB, an apprentice dormitory for the Roßwein forge, and a boarding school for the Roßwein Technical College for Heavy Machine Construction.
