On Görväln Bay of Lake Mälaren is Görväln Castle, a historic estate in Sweden. It now serves as a hotel and restaurant.

History+

The first documented mention of Görväln Castle dates back to 1460, when it was owned by the Archdiocese of Uppsala. After the Reformation around 1520, the estate passed into the possession of King Johan III, who transferred it in 1571 to the Italian nobleman Antonius de Palma. Between 1605 and 1661, the castle was owned by the Swedish noble family Bjelke, who carried out various alterations during this period.
