Götzendorf Castle, a historic complex in the municipality of Oepping, located northwest of Sprinzenstein Castle, now serves as an educational institution.

History+

The origins of Götzendorf Castle date back to 1180, when it was first mentioned under the name Gocynesdorf in a document. The first lords, the von Götzendorf family, were ministeriales of the Passau bishops and had the original castle built. After the extinction of this lineage in 1422, Götzendorf passed to the Lords of Vichtenstein and Hauzenberg through marriage. As early as 1453, Martin von Oedt acquired the complex, and the von Oedt family shaped the castle for over three centuries. They expanded the property and the castle, including arcades and gardens.
