Gollwitz Castle

Before 1945, the manor house was owned by the von Rochow family, who were dispossessed and expelled by the communists in 1945. As early as 1946, the village school moved into the premises, functioning as a central school from 1951 and later as a POS. A day kindergarten was also established in the castle in 1953. The school closed in 1977 due to insufficient student numbers, after which the building was converted into a training center with overnight accommodation. A group for military education also used the premises. The kindergarten remained until 1993. After German reunification, legal disputes arose over ownership. In 1992, the castle was assigned to the Potsdam-Mittelmark district. An attempt by the Volkshochschulbildungswerk to develop the castle into a modern training facility failed in 1994 due to high renovation costs, leaving the building vacant.
