Golten Castle
In the town of Geldern is Golten Castle, which now serves as a retirement home. Originally known as "te Boemert", it was once the ancestral seat of the Lords of Pont.
History+
The first documented mention of Haus Golten dates back to 1294. In the late Middle Ages, the estate, then known as "te Boemert", served as the residence of the Lords of Pont. In 1586, the building suffered severe destruction when Dutch soldiers devastated and set it on fire. Reconstruction only took place in the 17th century, with the current tower dating from this era. The other parts of the building are of more recent origin.
