Grafenstein Castle, a three-story, cubic structure with an arcaded inner courtyard, is an estate in Carinthia. It has a continuous connection to the founding Orsini-Rosenberg family.

History+

The castle's origins date back to 1638, when Johann Andreas von Rosenberg initiated its construction, as evidenced by an inscription in the courtyard. His successor, Georg Nikolaus Rosenberg, added another floor to the building in 1660. In 1770, under Vinzenz von Orsini-Rosenberg, the facade underwent a redesign, incorporating colossal pilasters, window pediments, and triangular gables. The interior of the castle was adorned with Rococo stucco between 1760 and 1770, and illusionistic wall paintings were created around 1780.
