Grafenstein Castle
Grafenstein Castle is a castle in the Carinthian municipality of Grafenstein. It is still owned by the founding family Orsini-Rosenberg.
The castle is located west of the town of Grafenstein. It is a three-story, cubic building with twelve or eight axes and has a three-story arcaded inner courtyard. In the courtyard, there is an inscription dated 1638 by the builder, Johann Andreas von Rosenberg. Another plaque is from Georg Nikolaus Rosenberg from 1660, who had the upper floor built. Under Vinzenz von Orsini-Rosenberg, the facades were structured with colossal pilasters, window pediments, and triangular gables in 1770. Inside are Rococo stucco works from the period 1760-1770 and illusionistic wall paintings from about 1780.
