Gram Castle
Gram Castle, an impressive complex in Gram, Southern Denmark, is a historic structure dating back to a medieval moated castle. It is picturesquely situated on a courtyard island in a dammed pond and presents itself as a multifaceted testament to Nordic architectural history.
History+
The origins of Gram Castle can be traced back to a royal estate in the Middle Ages. Around 1470, the property passed into the possession of the knightly Reventlow family, who expanded it into one of the largest estates in the region and laid the foundation for the present castle. In 1664, Imperial Field Marshal Hans von Schack acquired the complex for 14,000 Reichstalers. The castle remained in the possession of the Schack family for centuries until it was acquired by the Brodersen family in 2007, who converted the estate to organic farming.
