Grimminghausen Castle

The manor house Grimminghausen was first mentioned in a document in 1406 in connection with a deed of sale between the brothers Schade and Hermann von Cobbenrode. After frequent changes of ownership, Grimminghausen fell to the von Plettenberg family in 1613, who sold Grimminghausen to the von Marscherell family in 1656. Later, Gimminghausen came into the possession of the Barons von dem Bottlenberg genannt Kessell zu Neuenhoff and finally to the von dem Bussche-Ippenburg genannt Kessell.

In the course of the 17th century, the two-story building with its farmyard was extended. After renovations around 1800 and 1980-81, it is now in private ownership. On the northwest side of the castle, traces of the moats and the former outer wall can still be seen.
