Gröba Castle

The origins of the Gröba knight's estate date back to the 15th century, when it formed the center of a lordship held by the von Nitschwitz family. Between 1692 and 1783, the property was owned by the von Arnim family. Around the year 1700, the castle acquired its current Baroque appearance. In 1783, ownership passed to Johann Carl Benedict von Wacker, followed by the Rüssing family from 1814, the von Kommerstädt family from 1855, and finally, from 1919 until its expropriation in 1945, by the von Altrock family. The castle suffered damage during the Elbe floods of 2002 and 2013.
