Groß Leuthen Castle

The first documented mention of Leuthen dates back to 1368, when it was still part of the Burgraviate of Lübben. An independent dominion developed, which in the 16th century encompassed several surrounding villages. After various changes of ownership, Wilhelm Schenk von Landsberg acquired the estate in 1517. The Schenk von Landsberg family owned the castle until the early 18th century. It later passed into the possession of Countess Podewils, who frequently visited the castle despite its function as a secondary estate. After her death, her son August Ferdinand von Haeseler inherited the property. In the early 20th century, the Berlin chemical manufacturer Johann Abraham von Wülfing acquired the castle.
