Gross Rietz Castle, a Baroque castle in the municipality of Rietz-Neuendorf, Brandenburg, is one of the rural aristocratic residences of the region.

History+

The construction of Gross Rietz Castle took place between 1693 and 1700 according to designs by Cornelis Ryckwaert, commissioned by Johann Georg von der Marwitz. Later, the Prussian Minister of State Johann Christoph von Wöllner acquired the estate in 1790. He dedicated himself to agriculture, planted orchards and mulberry trees, and had a square carp pond created. After Wöllner's death in 1801, District Administrator Peter Friedrich Ludwig von Itzenplitz took over the estate and redesigned the castle park inspired by English and Flemish models.
